Knitting Scarves

It seems like I have been working on this one a long, long time.

Sometimes I get a lot knitted at work and sometimes I don't.

End of Snowflakes in July

Due to unforeseen circumstances involving my ankles swelling up as big as softballs I only completed 2 snowflakes.

Photos will be posted soon. I did learn one thing, well two things.

It is hard to read a pattern and follow the directions while at work.

And when your feet are on the wall to keep them above your head, it's really hard to read pattern and crochet.

Lesson learned... be darn sure to take the anti-inflamation pills so the diabetic pill doesn't swell leg up to injured knee which will make it impossible to walk.

DUH, take pills. And carry extras with you for when you run out of the house and forget to take said pills.

I will keep making Snowflakes on Monday, another CAL, as soon as I find a pattern that I can remember without having to read pattern over 50 times.

I know I did at least 20 snowflakes if I counted all the times I had to pull thread out and start a row again.

Snowflakes in Progress

This is round 5 and one more to go. On my first snowflake. I probably made the equvilant of 3-4 but by the time I undid and redid I am not done with the first one.

It had been a very long time since I have read a pattern and worked with this small of needle. My flake is probably not exactly like the pattern but it's close enough.

I took progress photos of each round but they didn't turn out quite as clear as I would like. However if you want to see them go to my Flickr.com account.

Snowflake rnd 5

And one more thing this is turning out to be alot bigger than I had in mind, about 7 inches when finished. So I will be looking for a smaller snowflake pattern.

Happy Hooking.

I have all my supplies and ready to start making snowflakes and only snowflakes for this next week.

Snowflakes here I come

It has been a very long time since I crocheted with this small of hook and thread.

A Month of Softies

I have been lurking on this site for a couple of months. I am hoping to participate this month.

Sock Monkey
is this month's challenge or theme.

Sock Monkey

As you can see my old friend needs some attention and a new monkey to hang with.

Been awhile, hasn't it

The past 2 weeks I have been doing an anniversary or wedding needlework "thing" for my mom and Art.

Now Mom gave this to me to do for her about 2, maybe 3 years ago. I cross-stitch. I don't do needlepoint or whatever it is called.

Almost 80 hours later. Now I do.

Anniversary Stitching

No directions for this one as the pattern was stamped on the linen.

I probably should have ironed this before scanning but I will iron before I send it on to Mom. I have no idea whether it is to be a pillow or put in a frame. I only had to do the stitch work not the completion.

Trick or Treat Bags Posted by Hello

Trick or Treat Bags or Fall Gift Bags

Supply List:

Black Craft Bags
2 different sheets 12x12 scrapbook paper (Orange)
1 sheet of a green 12x12 scrapbook paper
green twine or orange ribbon

Glue stick
Scissors
Hole Punch (single)

Pattern

Directions:

Click on pic to enlarge picture, lay a sheet of paper on computer screen and trace each of the components. Leaf and left, middle, and right segment of pumpkin. Cut out, using them as a pattern, trace on to light weight card board, cut these out, as they are your permanent pattern.

Turn over each of the pumpkin segments and draw an arrow pointing up. Place them on the wrong side of the 12x12 paper. Using the same paper for the left and right segments and the other paper for the middle segment. Trace 32 pairs of side segments, 32 middle segments, and 32 leaves. Cut out in separate squares, I found this easier than trying to cut out each one while still attached to the 12x12 paper.

**I cut out all the middle segments and leaves, but I only cut out the side segments in groups of 4 or 5, when I was ready to glue them on the bags. I didn't want to sort through little segments trying to find a left or right.

Laying the bag, seam side down, glue the middle section on first, then the side segments, then the leaf above the left side segment.

Fill with treats, then fold over a 1/2 - 1 inch flap, hole punch to holes, side by side. Thread green twine or orange ribbon through holes and tie in a bow.

Makes 32 gift bags

(with enough paper left to make cards, just glue on black paper instead of bags)

Not a good picture of the 2004 Homecoming Mum ~ will put up a better picture when film developed. Posted by Hello

Homecoming Mums

We made Sweetie one and a Homecoming Garter for her date. It was alot of work. I also made 3 decorated cowbells.

Good thing I didn't figure out the $$ amount per each mum. I bought enough materials to make for the next year or two, with some of the things. We were in a rush to make them though so no directions this year.

We spent 2 Late Night/Early Mornings getting them done. Next year we will do them way in advance!!

I will post supply list, directions, and tips early, too.

I am also going to attempt to find a mail order source for supplies. I will say Hobby Lobby had different prices at different stores. On some things, as much as, .25-.50 cents higher. The Allen Store was higher than the East Plano Store. That was disappointing to find out. Michael's had quite a bit of supplies, with some items there a bit higher than the Hobby Lobby across the street. These items were mostly the prepackaged "charm" type things. Hobby Lobby did have the best prices on spools of ribbon and the biggest selection.

Michael's also had alot of precut speciality ribbons, quite pricey, compared to the ribbon by the yard at Hobby Lobby. However, Michael's did have a premade foundation (the round cardboard circle, surrounded by 2 colored ribbon points, with 2 colors of streamers) for $14.95 which may make sense to use. At least on a time/labor factor it would be a good purchase.
